Palestinian Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Nabil Amr commented the following on Israel's assassination this morning of Dr. Thabet Thabet, a dentist and a Fatah leader in Tulkarem: " Israel's crime of assassinating Dr. Thabet Thabet includes in it a political message that aims at pressuring the Palestinian leadership into accepting political solutions that do not meet the national rights of the Palestinian people and are not in conjunction with international legitimacy. The martyr, Dr. Thabet was a prominent Fatah leader who played an important role in leading Fatah, the Palestinian National Authority, and the PLO towards a just and stable peace. Therfore, his assassination is an attempt to assassinate the just peace, the peace that is built on the basis of our legitimate and internationally recognized rights. We condemn in principle the assassination of any member or leader of our Palestinian people, still we also note that the timing of this assassination came to cast real doubts regarding the seriousness of Israel to reach a just peace with the Palestinian people. It seems that the Israeli language of peace is out of context."
