Call For Action!!! URGENT APPEAL!!!

Please help stop this gross act of inhumanity while there is still time!

Nigerian Bariya Ibrahim Magazu, a 17 year old Muslim girl who was forced by her father to have sex with three men, is sentenced to be flogged this month for breaking a law against premarital sex. The girl was charged after it was discovered that she was pregnant. Judge Idris Usman Gusau said the sentence - 180 lashes with a cane - would be carried out Jan. 27. Gusau said her condition would be monitored throughout the flogging, which could be halted if she is not able to cope with it all at once. The girl said she was impregnated by one of the three middle-aged men. The sentence had been delayed until she delivered her baby. Irregardless of the details, we must try to stop this senseless punishment that is slated within 2 weeks.

Please send e-mails letters of complaint immediately to:

President Olusegun Obasanjo

The e-mail address is part the official Govt. web site, however it is still under construction and you may not get through on it. If it does not work you can send the e-mail to his Senior Special Assistant -- (this will definitely get through.)

Dear President Obasanjo,

It has recently come to my attention that a 17-year-old girl from the state of Zanfara (Bariya Ibrahim Magazu) has been slated to be flogged January 27 by an order from Judge Idris Usman Gusau.

In case you are not aware of the details, this girl had been ordered by her father to have sex with 3 men, one of which impregnated her as a result of this rape. Her punishment was delayed from December until she gave birth. For humanity's sake please intervene now in this atrocity by halting the needless cruelty that is to be inflicted upon this innocent girl.

Thank you for your immediate attention,
