Dozens of workers belonging to the Sindh Taraqqi Passand Party (STPP) staged a sit-in and blocked the National Highway, to protest against the water shortage. The protest demonstration was led by STPP leaders which included Mehboob Abro, Zafar Solangi, Zahid Almani, Azhar Jatoi and others. The activists gathered at the Taraqqi Passand House, Qasimabad and marched towards the National highway where they blocked the road for traffic. The STPP leaders and workers chanted slogans against Punjab for creating an artificial water shortage in Sindh. They continued their protest for about two hours.

The police of Bhittai Nagar and Qasimabad police stations headed by DSP Qasimabad persuaded the demonstrators to call off their protest who refused initially but said they would disperse after a while. Mebboob Abro and others spoke to the workers and said the water shortage was artificial and it was deliberately created by the Punjab, which has stolen the water. They alleged a conspiracy had been hatched to create an artificial shortage so that agro-economy of Sindh could be destroyed to push the people toward the drought so that they should cry for construction of a dam over Indus. They demanded the government to take notice of water shortage and take early efforts to meet water requirements of Sindh.
