TITLE: There is No Choice But to Return

Editor,

I am writing in response to the article, There can be no right of return, by Marcus Gee, (The Globe and Mail Thursday, January 4, 2001). How dare Mr. Gee claim that because the Palestinian refugee tragedy "happened more than half a century ago," makes the point of return null and void!

Who is he to circumvent UN resolution after UN resolution, guaranteeing rightful and legal return? The Jews make their claim on Palestine because they say it was theirs 3000 years ago! The Holocaust is long gone, but Germany and other governments are, till this day, paying for their actions.

By denying the Right of Return of Palestinian refugees, who were forced out at gun point, or fled in fear of their lives, would reward the perpetrators of such criminal acts, and wrongfully attempt to legitimize the illegitimate birth of Isreal. Although over 300 Palestinian villages were systematically destroyed, Mr. Gee must realize that the Palestinian love of for their land, and their conviction to return to it, will never die.
